I absolutely agree with you on cloud stuff. Having anything in the cloud (as a primary method) is financially and security-of-access wise a decision that I just can't understand. Why make things actively worse for yourself? For short-term gain? You'd think more people would prioritize long-term gain with how widely acknowledged it being a bad thing is when companies do it. And yet... I look forward to the day when all these discords and reddits of today go down, I've got a fan site all ready to receive fresh attention ;) A lot of them seem to be becoming unusable even to long-term users lately. Maybe there is hope? But regardless, I'll keep on doing my thing as long as I can, with independent sites and not-quite-social-media where I can determine for myself what content I see.
