5 December 2021 11:09One of those truisms for summoning is "never summon anything you can't smack down"; but the more prosaic version of this is "never initiate a practice sequence which you won't be able to see through".
Nevertheless, I'm going to try and start challenging the latter more because the reality of my health is that it is variable, and I think I just need to start Doing The Things on the basis of that.
I'm feeling called to make a doll for the Winter Queen, and I think the imagery here is really something about winter as an unwanted houseguest - something that has moved in and needs mollifying respectfully over the weeks and months, so that it stays satisfied. Or, perhaps less highfaultin, a large knitting project to create a decoration is the sort of thing I can do meditatively, it's Something, it's What I Can Do, and it represents a kind of commitment, and a kind of a future (decorations come out every year); it isn't nothing.
And as much as those first two maxims are true, "something is better than nothing" must be third among them.
