6 June 2023 13:43I get so excited by like...intersections between nature and technology? Like Nigel Kneale's concept of the stone tape, that a stone could operate like a recording device. I'm essentially big tech and machination of everyday life and factory culture, but that doesn't mean anti-invention (and it certainly does not mean opposition to the washing machine!); the fantasy is of technology which is integrated into the great beauty of nature, both to look at but also to experience - technology that is a sustaining system, which has an organic quality, which nourishes. & spiritually I get pretty excited about sound, about sound waves, about experiencing uncanny encounters as sound - which I suppose I've learned from weird cinema, where things like Quatermass will try and communicate indescribable experiences by overlaying whooshing theramin. Its' so fantastic.
Anyway all I see here is an intense receiver dish like, my gosh: imagine the ancient sonic melodies and vibrations that could capture.
