I am absolutely howling at an explanation in my current reading that the phoenix represents the hawk and heron of the Egyptians, the Eagle and cygnet of the Greeks and the peacock of the Hindus, and also the river Nile; like Ken that's just...thats just birds, Ken. All of them.

Date: 9 November 2022 09:31 (UTC)(I'm also not super into dragons, say - I do like dragons, but I'm not in the 'Buying a Dragon Energy Oracle Deck' group or conceptualising the things I experience as the presences of dragons, either imagining them literally as worms and beasts or spiritually in the way one might use angels as higher energy consciousnesses. Or even like, whatever term we use for animal spirits nowadays - it's just not how things seem to manifest for me)
I suppose the Phoenix has Lightbringer stuff going on - there's a sort of holy-light-destruction-and-renewal-purge to the image - which is a poor fit for the typically earthy and murky mood I try and cultivate.
