(no subject)

To be engulfed in deep fog is rather like being engulfed in deep sea; ponderings at 8am at the top of the mountain, looking out into the looming dark shapes in the mirk - formless trees and the suggestion of a landscape below and, of course, being surrounded by water on all sounds and the air thick with it - one does not feel quite in the human element any more, but somewhere other and strange, and like at any moment a whale might pass overhead.
