"Walk this way! How to optimise your stride and focus your mind to get the most from your daily stroll"

So, er, this is a real headline, and it's horrifying.

Part of walking as a practice (or in our case, a sacred Practice), is about mindset as much as anything else. Like, walking doesn't need to be "optimised", you don't need to "get" anything from it, that's not the purpose of a walk. The pleasure of a walk is stolen time: time where nothing can be accomplished or optimised or sold or perfected, it is freedom, rudderless, from the demands of the world.

I agree and I kinda feel the same way about mindfulness walks. I might not want to be mindful when I walk. I might want to be lost in thought. It's a way to relax and get a little time inside your own head.

I have this conversation with G now and again. I want to go for a solo walk to have some alone time to just be. “You should speed walk or start running again to optimize and make the time spent as efficient as possible!” and I’m like “...I just want to go wander for a while and see what I find.”

Relatedly, I’ve been looking through your Landweird site and really loving what you’ve put together. Thanks for taking the time to think it all through and write it :)
