When you're trying to explain the Landweird to a new audience, and you keep coming back to "...its just like the Shining", but then you will then need to explain this incredibly niche - but true - realisation that it is not, in fact, a ghost story, that pretty much only you get; and that anyone who hasn't been absolutely saturated in Mark Fisher over the past five years will be equally as clueless about.

(The Shining is my go-to comfort movie, which er. I think explains a Lot about me as a person, but when you've seen a film like that so many times it's no longer scary, you begin to develop some novel and abstracted understandings of where the pleasure is located in the text, and what the true nature of the Happening at the Overlook Hotel is, and - well - you probably need to have watched it 30 times over the span of two years to be in a sufficiently bizzare place to wrap your brain into it; BUT I suppose this is, in part, the purpose of meditative Reading, in that you really sink into deeper understanding or whatever, but what I'm trying to say is...when you've seen the Shining so many times you no longer think it has any ghosts in it, you've quite possibly gone mad and are speaking bollocks...)
