8 November 2020 22:17There are many things to love about Richard Carpenter's Robin of Sherwood, but the one that always catches me off guard is how alarmingly messianic Robin is. He's straight up running a literal woodland cult as a front for revolutionary activity, and when questioned by the Merry Men about whether something is too dangerous, he will quite shamelessly claim to be having visions and hammer them with his charisma and pull rank as head-priest/son-of-god until they do what he says.
They pray to him as a god every dinner time.
Robin is still the hero, of course, but I love how self-aware the show is about what living in a revolutionary separatist spiritual commune is actually like.
